[New post] Minimum lonen en uitkeringen 10% verhoogd

Sinds ik alleen woon en moet zien rond te komen (beter: zien te overleven…) van een minimum uitkering (vanaf medio 2017) is het onderwerp 'financiën' voor mij nog meer een 'rode draad' in mijn leven geworden. Sinds ik alleen woon en moet zien rond te komen (beter: zien te overleven…) van een minimum uitkering (vanaf medio 2017) is het onderwerp 'financiën' voor mij nog meer een 'rode draad' in mijn leven geworden. Nu was dit natuurlijk altijd al wel een primair punt in het leven van een alleenverdiener die nooit echt 'veel' heeft gehad. Mijn salarissen waren altijd onder 'modaal' met incidenteel uitschieters door overwerk in de late en weekend-uurtjes. Daarom was ik tijdens mijn werkzame leven altijd al actief bezig met 'beheersing' van mijn inkomsten en uitgaven. Al vele jaren houd ik een werkblad bij (zgn. 'Excel-sheet') waar ik alles in opneem, tot aan het kleinste kassabonnetje van de supermarkt. Je hebt mijn laatste stukje over financiën recent kunnen lezen in: 'Restflits weekend 21/22 januari 2023' onder 'Overleef ik 2023 financieel?'. Dat vrijwel alles (veel) duurder is geworden door de diverse crises vanaf Corona tot de nog steeds actuele oorlog in Oekraïne lijkt wel duidelijk voor iedereen. De 'armen' houden het steeds minder goed vol. Daarom ook zijn in 2023 diverse maatregelen genomen. Van 'energieplafond' tot het daadwerkelijk verhogen van de laagste inkomens! De minimum lonen zouden met 10% verhoogd worden (de hoogste verhoging sinds vele jaren) waardoor ook de gekoppelde uitkeringen met dat percentage mee zouden gaan. Ik was benieuwd. 10% bruto is wat anders dan wat je netto overhoudt… In december ontving ik nog € 1028,77. Daar ben ik eerlijk in. De IOAW is voor elk mens in Nederland gelijk dus geen geheim. Dan zou je (simpel) denken: 10% daarvan is ruim € 100 wat ik erbij krijg. Dat zou de lading aan prijsverhogingen al niet dekken… Maar het is iets. Echter is dat uiteraard wat te simpel gedacht. Die 10% wordt niet over het netto bedrag gerekend maar over het BRUTO bedrag. Daar worden dan nog de inhoudingen afgehaald zoals de belasting. Vanmorgen (dinsdag 31 januari) zag ik dan het uiteindelijke nieuwe netto bedrag: € 1126,10. Verschil: € 97,33. Nog géén 100 euro dus. Daar was ik al bang voor. Ik weet inmiddels wel hoe dat allemaal werkt. Zoals ik dus al zei: dit dekt absoluut niet de lading aan prijsverhogingen van alle kosten. Van verzekeringen, energiekosten (nu nog gelijk want contract maar op voorhand verhoogd vanwege hoger gasverbruik afgelopen maanden!), diverse noodzakelijke kosten van medische aard die niet helemaal vergoed worden en hulp (huishouding en klussen!) en… boodschappen! De dagelijkse boterham is duurder! Het beleg is duurder! ALLES is duurder. Voor de boodschappen had ik altijd een maximum bedrag in mijn werkblad genoteerd wat vroeger op € 200 stond toen ik alleen was. Dat heb ik door de jaren heen al verhoogd naar € 300 omdat het dagelijks koken met 'goedkopere' producten in de aanbieding me niet meer zo makkelijk afgaat. En dan is dat voor één persoon echt niet voordelig omdat ik dan relatief te veel moet kopen. Ik koop dus vaak één-persoons-maaltijden. En die zijn relatief weer duurder, zelfs in de aanbieding. En dan koop ik echt de goedkoopste bij Dirk, AH en Lidl… Ik zie nu al dat de grens van € 300 niet altijd haalbaar is, zelfs nu ik geen dure drank meer koop… Als er dan eens onverwachte uitgaven zijn zoals een kapotte magnetron (zeer noodzakelijk voor die maaltijden) en een klusser die een lekkende wc-stortbak komt repareren, dan zit ik met mijn uitgaven zo weer hoger dan de inkomsten. Zelfs met die '10%' en een hogere zorgtoeslag. Woontoeslag Nu is er nog één inkomstenpost die ik niet heb genoemd: de bijzondere bijstand waar ik recht op heb als huiseigenaar: 'Woontoeslag'. Dat krijg ik ook al sinds ik de IOAW krijg. Dit bedrag was enkele jaren redelijk en boven de € 100 per maand! Tot de 'geweldige' Sociale Dienst Drechtsteden opeens maar een bedragje van rond de € 70 begon te geven vanaf 2021. Na protest bleken ze de berekeningen met hun 'eigen programmaatje' (handwerk…) fout te hebben gedaan. "Sorry." Ik behoefde gelukkig niet het enkele jaren 'te veel' ontvangen geld terug te betalen… Foutje van de 'bank' in mijn voordeel… Wel terug naar AF. Een van de (helaas) meerdere foutjes van de overheids-ambtenaren… Dit was dan een relatief klein (en eventjes voordelig) foutje maar de realiteit werd enkele jaren dus al minder gunstig. Die Woontoeslag moet ik jaarlijks weer aanvragen. Helaas kunnen ze dit blijkbaar niet automatiseren zoals de Zorgtoeslag wel automatisch verloopt. Omdat het een Gemeentelijke regeling is vermoedelijk. Maar nu moet ik daarom wel elk nieuw jaar weer een stapel formulieren invullen en bewijzen (inkomsten, banksaldi, jaaropgaven) meesturen om dit dan wel met terugwerkende kracht vanaf januari te ontvangen. Gedoe. Voor ruim 6 tientjes per maand? Voor iemand met een eigen huis eigenlijk bizar weinig! Want ook de (bouw- en onderhouds-) kosten zijn bizar hoog geworden. Dezelfde materialen bij de bouwmarkt kosten nu tientjes meer dan enkele jaren geleden. Dat weet iedereen. Dus heb ik aan die Woontoeslag eigenlijk niets als het om de kosten van onderhoud aan mijn woning gaat. Het is puur een extraatje voor mijn dagelijkse levensonderhoud. Meer niet. Maar daar mag ik dan zogenaamd niet over praten… Dan moet ik als armzalige uitkeringstrekker maar verhuizen naar een kleinere en (dus?) 'goedkopere' huurwoning. Ahum… Wel eens gehoord van de wooncrisis? Het is tegenwoordig onmogelijk een 'goedkope' en geschikte (voor ouderen geschikt!) huurwoning te vinden en je staat zo op een wachtlijst van vele jaren. Daarnaast: wie doet het? Wie betaalt de verhuizing en inrichting van een nieuwe woning wat in de vele duizenden euro's zal gaan lopen? Juist ja. Dit kan dus helemaal niet. En daarom gedogen ze me uiteraard in mijn 'prima eigen woning'. Zie het maar te overleven. Punt. Nee geen 'punt'… Wordt vervolgd want die toeslag moet ik dus nog aanvragen. Altijd eigenlijk pas als de nieuwe WOZ-waarde bekend is, want dit is blijkbaar een cruciale factor in de berekening van de woontoeslag. Meestal vraag ik het in februari aan. De formulieren heb ik pas aangevraagd en ontvangen. Daarover binnenkort dan meer. Ben ik dus blij met de 10% verhoging van mijn uitkering? Voorlopig niet. De strijd blijft gehandhaafd. De kosten van het basale levensonderhoud van de minima zijn nog hoger geworden. De armen zijn wederom armer. En ik weet eigenlijk wel zeker dat ik op een 'kruitvat' zit. Als er (te) veel tegenslagen komen met gezondheid of onverwachte noodzakelijke uitgaven dan kan ik niet meer (normaal) eten en drinken. Dat is 'normaal' in dit "Gave Nederland"!? Teachers prepare to walk out over pay     Thousands of teachers in England and Wales are preparing to strike over pay  in the first national walkouts since 2016. It's thought more than 100,000 could take part in the action, the National Education Union says, leading to 23,000 schools facing closure or disruption on Wednesday. Some may have been leaving the decision on whether to open until the morning, depending on how many staff join the strike. Most state school teachers in England and Wales had a 5% pay rise in 2022. But inflation means this is actually a cut, unions say. And they want to make sure it is not paid for out of school budgets. Staff from other sectors including university staff, civil servants, train and bus drivers are also due to take part in walkouts, making it the biggest strike in more than a decade, according to the Trades Union Congress. Education Secretary Gillian Keegan said the teachers' strike meant "huge uncertainty for parents" and that it would have an impact on children's education. But Labour accused PM Rishi Sunak of "weak leadership", urging him to come to the negotiating table to sort out the "chaos". In Wales, striking teachers are joined by support staff, while teachers are also striking in two parts of Scotland as part of rolling industrial action. One Year 5 teacher in Portsmouth said her salary had fallen in real terms over a decade and that she knew of teachers going to food banks. "I do not know one teacher who doesn't work in their holidays," she said. "What other job expects you to work in your holidays?" Four-year-old girl killed in dog attack     A four-year-old girl has died in a dog attack in Milton Keynes, police have said. Emergency services were called on Tuesday evening after reports a dog had attacked a child in the back garden of a home in Netherfield. No arrests have been made and the dog has been humanely destroyed, with police saying what happened was a "tragic incident". Thames Valley Police said no one else was hurt and that the child's family was being supported by officers.

Which High Street coffee has most caffeine?     You may well have a takeaway cup of coffee in your hand if you're reading this in the morning - but did you know that the level of caffeine can vary hugely  depending on which High Street shop you get it from? That's what new research from consumer group Which? suggests. They measured the caffeine in cappuccino, espresso and filter coffee and some leading chains. And Pret's single espresso was found to have six times as much caffeine as that at Starbuck's. While that could be the boost you need, Which? said consumers should be aware just how much caffeine is in their favourite coffee.

Devastation from the air in Myanmar's brutal civil war   Just before she left for school on the afternoon of 16 September, nine year-old Zin Nwe Phyo was thrilled to be given a new pair of sandals by her uncle. She put on the shoes and headed off to school, a 10-minute walk away in the village of Let Yet Kone in central Myanmar. Shortly afterwards, her uncle saw two helicopters circling. Suddenly they started shooting. Zin Nwe Phyo and her classmates had just arrived at the school when someone shouted that the aircraft were coming their way. They began running for cover as rockets and ammunition struck the school. Their attackers were two Russian-made Mi-35 helicopter gunships, nicknamed "flying tanks" or "crocodiles" because of their sinister appearance and protective armour. They carry a formidable array of weapons, including powerful rapid-fire cannon, and pods that fire multiple rockets. In the two years since Myanmar's military ousted Aung San Suu Kyi's elected government, air strikes like this have become a new and deadly tactic in a civil war that is now a brutal stalemate across much of the country, conducted by an air force which has in recent years grown to about 70 aircraft. Need something different?     A heart-shaped Tudor pendant found by a metal detectorist in Warwickshire is one of thousands of treasures that have just been unveiled by the British Museum. The gold jewellery, dating back to the 16th Century, is linked to a former king - it bears the initials H and K, thought to refer to Henry VIII and first wife Katherine of Aragon.
