Design Talk betekent tijd nemen om het gezicht achter een merk te leren kennen. Vandaag maken we kennis met de oprichteres van het Nederlandse designlabel, Robuust Amsterdam.

Het merk Robuust Amsterdam is een jong merk met een duidelijke missie: tijdloze en minimalistische esthetiek bij de mensen thuis brengen zonder het milieu te belasten. De industrial designers Job Althof en Niek Sanders van Studio Althof & Sanders lanceerden Robuust Amsterdam in 2018. Sindsdien groeide het bedrijf van een duo naar een mulitdisciplinair interieurmerk met een bruisend en enthousiast team. Het basisprincipe blijft niettemin hetzelfde: less is more.

Verantwoord design

Een minimalistische en bewuste levensstijl heeft één vereiste — een lange levensduur. Daarom maakt Robuust Amsterdam gebruik van degelijke, kwalitatieve materialen, en zet het zich in om eenvoudige, functionele interieurobjecten van een erg hoge kwalitetit te creëren. Alle items van Robuust Amsterdam zijn in Nederland geproduceerd van uitsluitend verantwoorde, veilige en milieuvriendelijke materialen.

Deze missie realiteit te maken en producten te creëren die generaties lang meegaan, is exacte wetenschap. In elk aspect van het productieproces overweegt Robuust Amsterdam ieder element zorgvuldig: van de verpakking, het onderhoud, de vervangbare onderdelen tot de recyclage van het product.  Robuust Amsterdam is trots te kunnen samenwerken met toonaangevende Nederlandse producenten van duurzame en milieuvriendelijke materialen, die tijdens productie prio geven aan het hergebruik van water en hitte.

De filosofie van Robuust Amsterdam is eenvoudig. De makers geloven dat alleen omringd worden door wat essentieel is, een gevoel van balans en rust cultiveert. Je omringt je met mooie en nuttige objecten die je koestert en ontdoet je van balast. Het favorietje

We waren benieuwd wat het favoriete product van de oprichters was. Dus vroegen we het :-). "Onze all-time favoriete Robuust items zijn onze bedframes 01 & 02. Deze bedframes geven de slaapkamer een luxeuze en strakke uitstraling. Ze toveren je slaapkamer om tot een stijlvolle loft", vertellen Althof en Sanders. "Je kan de bedframes inrichten naar eigen wens. Zo kan je het minimalistisch laten of verschillende add-on's toevoegen. Een hoofdbord of een extra plankje waar je jouw wekker of glas water op kunt plaatsen. De echte sfeermakers hangen bijvoorbeeld planten of andere decoratie aan het bedframe. De basis van Robuust is creativiteit — die van het ontwerp en die van jou."

Founded in 2018 by industrial designers Job Althof and Niek Sanders of Studio Althof & Sanders, Robuust Amsterdam is a young brand with a concise mission: to bring a timeless, minimalist esthetic into the homes of people, while helping the environment. The Robuust Amsterdam brand has since evolved from a duo into a multi-disciplinary interior label with a vibrant and enthusiastic team, but the founding principle remains the same: less is more.

Responsible design

Minimalist, conscious living has one essential requirement — longevity. Which is why Robuust Amsterdam uses solid, quality source materials, and why the brand is committed to creating simple and functional interior objects of an uncompromisingly high quality: all Robuust Amsterdam products are manufactured locally in the Netherlands and made exclusively of environmentally responsible, safe and planet-friendly materials.

Executing a mission to design quality products that will last for generations is an exact science: every aspect of production is carefully considered, from packaging, maintenance and replaceable parts to product recycling, all in the service of extending the life of each product. Robuust Amsterdam proudly collaborates with the leading producers of sustainable and eco-friendly materials in the Netherlands, who prioritise the reuse of resources such as heat and water during production.
